Zinc.
Completed zinc roofing and cladding projects across London and the South East, including standing seam roofing, extensions, dormers, and new builds.
What zinc looks like in practice
Zinc changes appearance over time in a way that sets it apart from most other roofing materials. New zinc has a bright, silvery tone that weathers into the blue-grey patina most people associate with the material. Pre-weathered options — available from suppliers such as RHEINZINK and VMZINC — arrive with that tone already developed, giving a consistent finish from day one. The photos above show a range of points along that journey, from recently installed projects through to roofs that have been weathering for several years.
Typical zinc projects
Most of our zinc work falls into three categories: rear extensions, dormers and roof alterations on existing properties, and full re-roofs on new builds or refurbishments. Standing seam is the most common system — it suits both contemporary architecture and period buildings, and the long, clean panel lines read well at scale. Zinc cladding to walls and parapets is also a regular part of the work, often combined with a zinc roof to give a unified external envelope.
Considering zinc for your project?
Zinc is one of the most specified materials for high-quality residential and architectural work in the UK. It rewards careful detailing and correct substrate specification, and when installed well it is a genuinely long-term solution. Our zinc roofing page covers the material in more detail, including finish options, typical costs, and what to consider at design stage. If you have a project in mind, get in touch and we can discuss whether zinc is the right fit.
