Copper.
Completed copper roofing and cladding projects across London and the South East, including standing seam roofing, heritage properties, and architectural details.
What copper looks like in practice
Copper is one of the most visually distinctive roofing materials available. Freshly installed, it has a warm, bright copper-orange colour. Over months and years it darkens through rich browns and chocolate tones before eventually settling into the green-blue verdigris patina seen on older buildings. The photos above capture that range — some projects show new or recently installed copper, others show the material at different stages of weathering, illustrating the full transformation the material goes through.
Typical copper projects
Copper is typically chosen for heritage and period properties, high-specification residential work, and projects where longevity is the primary brief. Bay window roofs, dormer cheeks, spires, and standing seam roofs on listed or sensitive buildings are among the most common applications. We also install copper on contemporary new builds where architects and clients want a premium material that will look increasingly distinctive as it ages.
Considering copper for your project?
Copper has a higher upfront cost than most other roofing metals, but its lifespan — routinely 80 to 100 years or more — means the long-term cost per year is highly competitive. Our copper roofing page covers specification, detailing requirements, and how it compares to zinc and other materials. To discuss a specific project, contact us and we can advise on whether copper is the right material for the brief.
